Little Black Ants

Little Black Ants swarm in the summer months when there is a plethora of oils, fruits, vegetables, meats, cornmeal and grease. Hence, the very well known name of Sugar Ants. If there is food to be found, they will find it.The worker ants also feed on other insects, honeydew and plant secretion.

Most of their trails are found along sidewalks which gives them their third well known name, Pavement Ants.

The Little Black Ant prevention is not the hardest thing in the world. Keep your kitchen sinks dry and cleaned of all foods. Some people even go as far as pouring a little bit of bleach down the drain to prevent the smell of rotting food from attracting them.Cleaning your counters and floors every night will keep them at bay due to a lack of nutrition to keep them alive. They will be forced to find another source.

A few more preventative measures would include sealing cracks and crevices with caulk, keep firewood stored at least 20 feet away from the home and keep shrubbery trimmed. Their nests are kind of hard to find due to their small size.

Homeowners should consider working with a licensed pest professional to employ a preventative pest management plan. Call G&G Exterminating in west Georgia, Douglasville and metro Atlanta for a free assessment today.
